Number 18 Melbury Road in West Kensington. This was the home of the pre-Raphaelite painter William Holman Hunt, and here the young Virginia Woolf had lessons in deportment from Mrs. Holman Hunt. In 1923, MI6 (the British secret intelligence service made famous around the world by James Bond) moved here for a year from central London. The house has been converted to flats.

“Looking from the Upper Ward through the Norman Gate to the Middle Ward. Although the gate is one of the oldest in the castle, historically protecting the Inner Bailey, the current structure dates mostly from the 18th Century.”

“Located inside the Albert Memorial Chapel (Lady Chapel of St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle’s Lower Ward) (the public isn’t allowed to go in here for some reason.) Oddly enough, Prince Albert, the namesake, isn’t buried in this chapel. Henry VIII wanted to be buried here but there were a few political issues after his death in terms of burial so he was simply buried with his third wife Jane Seymour in the main Chapel of St. George. (The appearance of the Albert Memorial Chapel is mostly Victorian).”
